Sharing the Joy of Reading

Candy

Candy

Candy is a southern girl who enjoys the simple things in life. Dirt road drivin’, Sunday afternoon nappin’, back yard swingin’, and sunset watchin’ are a few of the things that make her smile. She’s been married to her best friend and the love of her life for almost 25 years and is navigating motherhood with her 4 children, aged 23, 19, 14, & 11. Homeschooling for over 18 years now, she is also a bit of a word-nerd (ok, maybe more than a “bit” – she actually considers making lists of homophones to be entertaining), a lover of books and chocolate, a survivor of cancer, an author, and a hula hoop maker.

I started reading out loud to my children over 20 years ago when my oldest son was so […]

I love children’s literature and when my kids were young I bought them books for special occasions and “just because.” We frequented the public library but we also built our own. At first we enjoyed the humor and the beautiful language. As they matured we gravitated to historical accounts and the inspiration of heroes. Reading […]

If you were to ask me to name my weakness I would have to answer, without hesitation, “reading.” (Well, there is my penchant for all things sugary, but that’s fodder for another post.) Of course, there’s nothing wrong with the act of reading in and of itself, but without discipline I’d be willing to curl […]
