My fav shower cleaner

Friday is cleaning day at my house (at least in theory!)…and every day is saving day!  So I was thrilled a few years ago to come across a DIY cleaning solution that was guar-an-teed to work great.  Now, you have to understand that in my experience ~ even though I’m a real DIY nut ~ most of the recipes I’ve tried over the years (even the ones guar-an-teed to work) have been miserable failures.  (Think craftfail.com)  But, ever-hopeful, and since I hate cleaning the bathroom anyway and am always on the lookout for something that will make it more tolerable, I thought I’d give this a try.

And I DO love this solution ~ it’s easy to make, easy to use, smells great and works great!

Here’s the recipe:

1 part blue Dawn

3 parts vinegar

couple of drops of essential oils (optional – I use lemon)

DIY Shower CleanerThe bottle pictured here holds 4 cups of liquid and cost me $1 at Dollar Tree.

You can use this to clean the toilet (inside AND out), sink and counter, tub/shower and shower curtain.  Wherever you use it, just make sure you can scrub and rinse off the solution.  This does a GREAT job on soap scum and leaves your bathroom smelling great…  (If you’re super-sensitive to smell, tho, try mixing up a small batch at first.  If you find the smell offensive, use it IN the toilet and the smell will wash away when you flush…waste not – want not!)

Do you have any simple cleaning solutions?  Please do share below!

Hey, since ya’ gotta clean anyway…why not save $$ at the same time?

Soap Scum is one thing . . . but what about mildew? Surely every south Georgia bathroom has it! What do you use to get rid of that? I’m trying to avoid bleach. Are there any other natural/DIY cleaners that will conquer my nemesis?

I use this! I bought lavender scented dish soap and this works well too!

Oh, goodness…I bet it does! How does it work on cutting the soap scum, tho? The recipe I read said that, in the “chef”s” opinion, Blue Dawn worked exceptionally well. So I haven’t tried anything else…
