Eeek! Mother’s Day is just around the corner – have you done anything for your mom yet?
I have to admit that I kinda feel bad, as a daughter, that Mother’s Day only rolls around once a year. I mean, as I was growing up, I watched as mom managed the home fires and worked at a job for years when my dad was unemployed.
It wasn’t easy for her – and yet I don’t recall letting her know how much I appreciated all she did for us. Except for around Mother’s Day…
Well, I do work harder at communicating that appreciation to her now. But I find myself a little uncomfortable trying to pass on the lesson to my kids. I mean, at some point, it feels so self-serving.
So I try to work on teaching gratitude in general. Encouraging them to write thank-you cards (yup, the old fashioned paper ones) when they receive gifts in the mail. Acknowledging kind acts of service with appreciative notes or hugs, when appropriate. More or less learning contentment and being grateful for whatever is provided in their lives.
But I have quite a lot of friends who are moms. And while I don’t want any of us to expect to be spoiled on Mother’s Day, I do want my mom-friends to feel special. ‘Course, I’d love for them to feel special every. stinkin’. day of the year. But I guess that’s not realistic.
Whether you’re reading this post today looking for a great gift for your mom, or if you’re reading this feeling like you need some support for yourself in your role as mom, or even if you’ve just stumbled upon this and know a mom that could use some special treatment…we want to encourage you to help us get this message across:
…no matter WHAT happens this Mother’s Day, or any other one down the road, know that we think you’re amazing!
We believe YOU matter, mom, and you should be taken care of – even if you have to do it yourself! AND even if your family doesn’t know it (and God forbid this should ever be put to the test!), they would be lost without you!
So here are some sweet Mother’s Day gifts to use for your mom…or YOURSELF!
If you live near your mom, how ’bout making a commitment to get some regular exercise together? It doesn’t have to be a gym membership; set a regular date on your calendar to walk together, or hula hoop, or swim, or… Here are some ideas to get you thinking!
And here are a few other gems from some of our blogging friends…
How ’bout this lovely printable from BombShellBling?
Or how ’bout some of these cute gift ideas, all for under $15, from Velvet-Rose?!
Is this not the most beautiful “bouquet” you’ve ever seen? And it’s edible…as in cupcakes! Totally do-able, y’all!! from Stagetecture
And I will admit it here: while this is a very pretty and practical gift basket, Summerscraps had me with the Nutella! 😉 Sorry to say the contest is over…the idea, however, is still great!
And if you’re really stuck, TheOrganizedDream has some ideas to help you get in the game!
Feel free to use any of the ideas here for your own mom, but also feel free and encouraged to use them to fill your own tank…refresh and renew yourself…and keep on keepin’ on being the BEST mom you can be!
