Why Not Make Every Day Mother’s Day?

Eeek! Mother’s Day is just around the corner – have you done anything for your mom yet?

I have to admit that I kinda feel bad, as a daughter, that Mother’s Day only rolls around once a year. I mean, as I was growing up, I watched as mom managed the home fires and worked at a job for years when my dad was unemployed.

It wasn’t easy for her – and yet I don’t recall letting her know how much I appreciated all she did for us. Except for around Mother’s Day…

I have quite a lot of friends who are moms. And while I don’t want any of us to expect to be spoiled on Mother’s Day, I DO want my mom-friends to feel special. ‘Course, I’d love for them to feel special every. stinkin’. day of the year.
Well, I do work harder at communicating that appreciation to her now. But I find myself a little uncomfortable trying to pass on the lesson to my kids. I mean, at some point, it feels so self-serving.

So I try to work on teaching gratitude in general. Encouraging them to write thank-you cards (yup, the old fashioned paper ones) when they receive gifts in the mail. Acknowledging kind acts of service with appreciative notes or hugs, when appropriate. More or less learning contentment and being grateful for whatever is provided in their lives.

But I have quite a lot of friends who are moms. And while I don’t want any of us to expect to be spoiled on Mother’s Day, I do want my mom-friends to feel special. ‘Course, I’d love for them to feel special every. stinkin’. day of the year. But I guess that’s not realistic.

Whether you’re reading this post today looking for a great gift for your mom, or if you’re reading this feeling like you need some support for yourself in your role as mom, or even if you’ve just stumbled upon this and know a mom that could use some special treatment…we want to encourage you to help us get this message across:
