Coffee and Conversation #129 – Let’s hit the ground runnin’!

Good morning and welcome to Coffee and Conversation #129!

Whew! We’ve sure hit the ground running 🙂

How’s your New Year so far? We’re off to a wonderful start!

Been super busy with our daily devotional – 31 Days of Prayer 4 Your Homeschool – but many have found it to be a great way to get focused, adjust attitudes, and strengthen the foundation of what’s always going on at home… If you’d like to join us, here’s the link. I’m also posting a graphic each day of the challenge on Instagram; here’s one (below) from last week. To see them all, follow us on Instagram, or search #314yourhs.

Join us in the "31 Days of Prayer 4 Your Homeschool" prayer challenge!!

And finally making some headway on my book on the Passover for Christians. I can’t wait to tell you all about it! (Subscribers will get an early-bird peek and first dibs when it comes out! hint-hint)

Ok, now it’s back to work for me…

…and on to our features, for y’all!

Easy Thank You cards Your Kids Can MakeEasy Thank You cards Your Kids Can Make

With the holidays over and those playrooms bursting with new toys, it’s about time to start sending thank you notes.

I’m a strong believer in the importance of thank you notes – when somebody puts the time and thought into buying a gift, they should get a special, handwritten note in return.

Is Standardized Testing Necessary for Homeschooled Students? Is Standardized Testing Necessary for Homeschooled Students?

The purpose of standardized tests is to assess the academic achievement of students. I don’t know any homeschooling parents who don’t care whether their kids are learning and growing in knowledge. The question is, do we need a ‘standardized’ test to assess this learning?

If you’ve been pondering the question of whether or not to have your homeschooled kids participate in standardized testing, there are several things that you should consider while making your decision.

How to Print Photo Art on Book PagesHow to Print Photo Art on Book Pages

Are you a book lover? Or perhaps just love the classic look and simplicity of a crisp page within a novel? Then I have a project for you! This fun and easy craft is not only a perfect way to express your love for all things books, but also is a unique and classic way to decorate!

I LOVE pictures but wanted a fun twist on the classic matte or gloss finish that photographs provide when decorating our master bedroom. This was when I decided to take my favorite photos, turn them into sketches and print them on book pages!

Pan de Yuca-Ecuadorian Cheese BreadPan de Yuca-Ecuadorian Cheese Bread

In Honor of Laura Resau’s books last week…and upcoming Children’s Multicultural Book Day next week!

Hey, Alicia here again with another great Ecuadorian recipe from my husband; Pan de Yuca. I think that literally translates to “Yuca Bread.” But in English, we call it cheese bread. As you can see, it’s not cheese bread like is normally thought of when one talks about cheese bread. Cheese is the main ingredient in these delicious little buns. So instead of just having cheese sprinkled on top of bread this is literally cheese bread.

Thanks so much for the great party Pat and Candy! I couldn’t tell if my giveaway post was OK to share? These pillows are great and the company is US based, which I love. Someone can win 4 of them by entering. Anyhow, if it is not OK for your party rules please feel free to delete. I will totally understand.
