Good morning and welcome to Coffee and Conversation #120…
Pat is taking some time off this month to work on a few projects for the New Year (yup, it’s getting to be ‘that’ time already!). Lucky for us, however, we have some terrific friends who will be standing in the gap…
To that end, this month we’ll be featuring some wonderful guest bloggers each week on Coffee and Conversation!
Today we welcome Tori Cole from Mess to Blessed. Hoping you’re experiencing God’s sweet blessings, and a healthy margin, as we approach Thanksgiving…
Yes, with the holidays fast approaching it seems like it’s a sink or swim season.
A time full of joy, laughter, family, cozy homes, a love of the Savior and thankfulness for blessings.
But, how many times have we missed it?
- Missed it because of the lack of perfection?
- Missed it because you couldn’t afford the gift your kid really wanted…
- Missed it because the dressing got left out…
- Missed it because you were too busy to get to every function known to man?
It’s so easy to do. It’s so easy to lose sight of the “Reason for the season” when we don’t take the time to enjoy it, even in its glorious imperfection.
See this picture on your left? I actually did this a couple weeks ago. And do you know how refreshed I felt afterward? I mean, the only thing better in this picture would be if it were at the beach. 🙂
This season I’m being intentional in Margin.
I’m making the time to celebrate the joy, the hope, the laughter. Notice I said “making”. A wise woman told me last year: Now is the time to set traditions that you enjoy, (it) makes life memorable and meaningful.
- I don’t want to waste this precious time to do things that are frivolous.
- I’m going to purposefully let something go.
- I’m going to make a mess, make something not match on the Christmas tree.
- Hey, I may be as bold as to let my kids decorate the tree however they want it. (Yes, I can feel my blood pressure rising as I type this.)
But I’m going to let go of expectations, and perfection and just take it in. Because when I am full, when I am at peace with God, others, and myself, I can give my best to others. And I think that is better than any present underneath the tree.
I’m a Mom of 4 over at Mess to Blessed. My life is never calm, always filled with craziness, and it is pretty fun (minus the temper tantrums that little people sometimes throw). I’m making it my goal to enjoy this season with meaningful intentionality.
What can you do this season to enjoy it? To let something go and embrace what this is actually for? It won’t be easy, hey, we may even make someone mad when we say the “No” word. But, make “margin” so that you can enjoy this season, too.
So please – Pass the Margin!
And congratulations to the winner of last week’s giveaway: Maya R.
Maya, I sent you an email, so if you haven’t responded yet…get in touch ASAP! 🙂
