Good morning and welcome to Coffee and Conversation #112 – hosted by PatAndCandy.com!
Yay – welcome back, fall!
I stepped outside yesterday morning and was greeted by crisp, cool weather! The air was clear and fresh, and because of the hour there were still a few stars left twinkling in the sky. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, grateful for the arrival of fall.
Of course, it’s not really my favorite season anymore. When I lived up North, fall meant breathtaking color changes, apple picking, sweater weather, breathing out “smoke” in the morning, and visiting the pumpkin patch with friends. Ah, memories.
We still do some of that here, but I can’t tell you how much I miss the change of colors…it’s just not happenin’ in my corner of the woods.
But it is here that I am planted and so each year when fall comes, I cherish the break in the heat and humidity, as well as:
- the fall color spectrum: corals and all shades of orange, and the range of reds from bright to deep cranberry, and grays and browns, (maybe not in my natural surroundings, but in clothes and decorations and, of course, Pinterest!),
- fall flavors: even this chocolate lover swoons at pumpkin spice (did you see last week’s feature?!), and apple and cinnamon and caramel and ginger and cranberry,
- and fall home decor: all that lovely outdoors always seems to find a way inside, in a warm and inviting way,
- and fall homeschool, when we all take blankets and pillows and do our studying outdoors (at least we did this when the kids were young).
As I thought of this all I began feeling a bit nostalgic and looked back at some of the fall posts we’ve done over the years. I’m sharing them with you today.
In honor of fall’s arrival tomorrow!

Oh, and a quick heads up – but have you heard of the “Not Back to School” online conference?
Yes, what you choose and how you choose to teach your kids matters, but who you choose to listen to for advice and support is just as important! This conference is unique in that, because the sessions are live, YOU get to have YOUR questions answered in real time!
Take a look at the speakers and topics offered this week on their calendar, and then make the call for yourself…
There are only 3 more days to listen in for free, but when you register you can still purchase recordings and get on the list for advanced notice of next year’s conference (wink-wink) and their upcoming Special Needs Summit.
Registration and the live events are free! Become a member of Home Educators Council of America and get access to the rest of the sessions this week. **Coming soon: Special Needs Summit**

Now, on to our features!
Kudos to Alicia at YourVibrantFamily for explaining how she uses essential oils with her kids’ boo-boos and owies!
Lauren, from ForgingSignificance, seemed to heighten my feelings of nostalgia with her post “The Power of a Bribe”. Not exactly what you think it might be from the title…but a call to harken back to times long gone – as in: when we knew our neighbors.
Not only is Charlene’s article, from the blog of ShiningStarsMagazine, interesting, but definitely read the comments below! This is a topic that flutters through my mind more and more these days…
Of course, no set of features would be complete without a yummy fall post, would it? Luckily, Amy, from LollyJane.com happily obliged! I could hear you asking for this recipe all the way from my place, so, you’re welcome! And even though you may gain 10 pounds just from reading the title of this post, feast your eyes on Amy’s recipe for…
