Coffee and Conversation Link Party #47

Good morning! Welcome to our latest edition of Coffee and Conversation. We’re so glad you’re here!

Coffee and Conversation

This has been an adventurous week for me. I’ve spent the last few days getting everything in place to start college in the fall. Me! A 44-year-old, homeschooling mom of 4. So, it appears that I’ll add “college student” to my already over-stuffed hat rack. I’m so excited. And nervous. And excited.

27 years ago my dream was to get married and have children. I’ve done that and am still lovin’ every minute of it (well, most of the time!), but as we near the end of my homeschooling career (only 6 more years to go!) it’s time to prepare for life’s next phase. I would appreciate it if you’d keep our family in your prayers as we embrace what’s ahead.

What dreams are you pursuing (or wanting to pursue)? We’d love to hear from you. We’ll cover you in prayer and cheer you on!

Feature time!

This week we’re focusing ways to grow your blog and/or make money at home…

Candy is a southern girl who enjoys the simple things in life. Dirt road drivin’, Sunday afternoon nappin’, back yard swingin’, and sunset watchin’ are a few of the things that make her smile. She’s been married to her best friend and the love of her life for almost 25 years and is navigating motherhood with her 4 children, aged 23, 19, 14, & 11. Homeschooling for over 18 years now, she is also a bit of a word-nerd (ok, maybe more than a “bit” – she actually considers making lists of homophones to be entertaining), a lover of books and chocolate, a survivor of cancer, an author, and a hula hoop maker.

My biggest dream, right now, is staying alive, and caring for the dogs in our sanctuary for the abused and abandoned.

But to STAY alive, I need to reach into the future differently…so I’m writing, and I’m building an airplane. From raw materials. To fly. Yes, really.

It’s a little on, single seat, but it’ll be both fast and highly acrobatic. The building process involves sheet metalwork, woodwork, and welding…a LOT of rather delicate welding. I try to do a little bit on it every day, and a little bit – sometimes just touching it – is all I CAN do. But it’s there, a casting of my thoughts and aspirations into a future I would like to see, because I want, one day, to fly the thing.

    • Candy June 24, 2015 at 6:41 am #

I love your dream, Andrew – “…to stay alive…” I, too, have been there. Years ago when I was battling a rare, aggressive form of cancer without much hope or promise from my team of doctors, my focus and desire was to stay alive as well. And it took so.much.effort every single day.

I love how you’re reaching and stretching to make your dream a reality. You were born to write…it’s obvious in every word you share. As you fulfill that purpose, not only is it helping you, you’re speaking life into the many who are blessed to read your words.

I pray that one day you will fly your completed airplane. And when you do, we all expect to see pictures. 🙂
