Coffee and Conversation Link Party #43

Welcome back to Coffee and Conversation!

This is, by far, one of my favorite times of the week. I love seeing what y’all have been up to and it’s a great opportunity for Pat & me to give you a glimpse into what’s goin’ on around here!

So, in the true spirit of [virtual] “coffee and conversation,” here’s what’s happening in our world…

We’ve just started a new series, “30 Days of Praying for Your Husband,” and we’re super excited about it! It doesn’t matter if you’ve been married 6 minutes or 60 years, praying for your husband is never a bad idea. (Unless, of course, you’re praying that he fall off a cliff, then that would be a bad idea.) Even if you’re not married yet, it’s not too soon to begin praying for your future husband.

30 Days of Praying for Your Husband

And, this too…

In our effort to really refocus on what God is speaking to our hearts in the area of blogging, Pat and I are striving to be very intentional with our time. While I understand that Mom’s Morning Coffee will only succeed in accomplishing our goals if we’re willing to work, I’m learning that it’s even more important to understand that all my hard work is in vain if my priorities aren’t in order. I’m realizing the importance of shutting my computer more often. Sounds counter-productive to building a successful website, I know, but often God calls us to do that which doesn’t have an easy explanation.

Speaking of leaving my computer shut…I actually left my laptop at home over the holiday weekend to enjoy “unplugged” time with my family. Not sure if I can describe just how big that is, but let me be honest and say, that’s a huge.hairy.deal! Sure, I took some pictures, but I was determined not to have all my memories captured by my phone’s camera. I purposely kept my eyes open, my heart available, and my mind focused on soaking in all those precious, never-to-be-had-again moments. I honestly don’t think I missed a single, “Mom! Watch this!” from my busy girl. And, I have no regrets.

Even though I was mostly unplugged I’m so glad I was able to capture this beautiful shot…

Time constraints didn’t allow us to choose features for this week, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy this week’s most clicked post:

5 Simple Ways My Non-Blogging Friends Can Support My Blog ~ Stephanie Orifice

Ways to Support a Blogging Friend

And the Usual Party Business

(Please read before adding your links)

  • Link up family friendly posts that support our site’s mission of encouraging, informing, and inspiring women. Think: marriage, parenting, recipes, DIY, saving money, faith-building, etc.  (Serious business…Link up vulgarity and it’ll be deleted.)

  • Don’t link posts that have been linked here previously.

  • Visit at least 2 other links. That’s what makes this a par-tay! Plus, it’s kinda the polite thing to do.

  • Linking up gives us permission to use and share your photos and blog posts (giving credit to you, of course!).

  • Link back to us in your post or on your blog. You can use the Coffee & Conversation button on the side bar or a text link.

  • You don’t have to, but we’d love for you to “follow” us in some way. FacebookTwitterPinterestGoogle+…

Candy

Candy is a southern girl who enjoys the simple things in life. Dirt road drivin’, Sunday afternoon nappin’, back yard swingin’, and sunset watchin’ are a few of the things that make her smile. She’s been married to her best friend and the love of her life for almost 25 years and is navigating motherhood with her 4 children, aged 23, 19, 14, & 11. Homeschooling for over 18 years now, she is also a bit of a word-nerd (ok, maybe more than a “bit” – she actually considers making lists of homophones to be entertaining), a lover of books and chocolate, a survivor of cancer, an author, and a hula hoop maker.

Candy, thanks so much for hosting every week! I’m feeling you with the whole “I’m learning that it’s even more important to understand that all my hard work is in vain if my priorities aren’t in order” thing. It’s like you took the words right out of my MIND. I get ahead of myself, wanting to share so many thoughts and Scriptures and feelings and ideas, that I sometimes forget to center. THE center, the whole reason I started this journey in the first place. THE person who called me to write for His glory to begin with. Thanks for this reminder.
And congrats on being (mostly) unplugged on your getaway!

I’m interested in your prayer series, Candy. I have a couple of marriage prayer groups that I oversee and one that I participate in. And it’s been such a blessing, so I’m always interested in gleaning more about prayer in marriage. Thanks for the linkup!

    • Candy May 27, 2015 at 10:47 am #

Why don’t you send your prayer group information to us?! Pat, may be able to link to some of your information in the series. 🙂

Thank you for hosting! Sometimes remaining engaged for the “Watch this” moments isn’t as easy as it should be (my kids are 2 and almost 7). Encouraging words about spending more time intentionally unplugged!

    • Candy May 27, 2015 at 8:44 am #

Thanks for joining us, Angie. 🙂 Those “Watch this” moments certainly aren’t as easy as they should be, but I am finding with intentional practice it’s getting easier. Funny (or maybe, not so funny) is that I don’t remember struggling with it as much when my older kids were little. Lack of technology, maybe? Or maybe I’m just getting old and my attention span has decreased. 😉
