Coffee & Conversation LInk Party #83 – Happy Birthday, Dr Seuss!

Good morning and welcome to Coffee and Conversation #83 – hosted by PatAndCandy.com!

Coffee & Conversation with Pat and Candy!

In honor of Dr Seuss’ birthday, Paul and I took one of those “What Dr. Seuss Character are You?” tests. Turns out, I’m Little Cindy Lou Who and he’s the Lorax. Then he wrote a poem for me about it… (*You might need to know that I’m a few days older than he is…)

With round wonder-filled eyes, and a quivering lip,

Your Cindy Lou traits could down a small ship.

But the premise, my dear, is disturbing: who knew?

To consider a marriage of one no more than two.

But to top the strange concept of marrying a child*,

You’ve joined with a critter straight out of the wild.

He’s shortish, and brownish, and oldish, young lassie

His hair’s like a mop, he’s just not too classy.

His mustache is unkempt, he springs forth from a stump

Your mother will not let you out with the grump.

You could have selected much better for sure:

Bartholomew Cubbins is safe and secure

Just think of your future with Gerald McGrew

Or Peter T. Hooper, or young Waldo Woo

Sylvester McMonkey McBean’s a provider

Heck, even the Wickersham Brothers can light up your fire

You could have had Yertle or Jim McFinnigan as a mate

Imagine your life with Zanzibar Buck Buck McFate!

But no, you selected a husband who’s fuzzy

And hangs out with Barb-a-loots, now doesn’t he or does he?

But while Trufula Tufts may be considered by some quite divine

The Lorax says Cindy Lou Who is JUST FINE!

Wasn’t that just TOO sweet?!

Happy Birthday, Dr Seuss!! (and thanks, honey <3)

That Dr. Seuss love poem is the best! Is your hubs a natural poet or was that a true labor of love? Either way, A+ for creativity. In fact, I’m so impressed that I almost forgot to thank you for the sharing the St. Patrick’s Day Online Unit Study! Thanks!

I went to grad school at UC San Diego…and Dr. Seuss was unavoidable! The library…surely the weirdest piece of architecture in a very weird state…was named after him, and looked like something out of one of his books.

Ohmygoodness, Andrew! I looked it up and when the image opened up on my screen… Well, let’s say, much as I may love Theodore Geisel…”his” library is somewhat terrifying! I can’t even imagine seeing that every day! Just. wow.
