Easy Homemade Bread

Candy

Candy

Candy is a southern girl who enjoys the simple things in life. Dirt road drivin’, Sunday afternoon nappin’, back yard swingin’, and sunset watchin’ are a few of the things that make her smile. She’s been married to her best friend and the love of her life for almost 25 years and is navigating motherhood with her 4 children, aged 23, 19, 14, & 11. Homeschooling for over 18 years now, she is also a bit of a word-nerd (ok, maybe more than a “bit” – she actually considers making lists of homophones to be entertaining), a lover of books and chocolate, a survivor of cancer, an author, and a hula hoop maker.

I started baking our own bread almost 20 years ago and I’ve tried a gaboodle of recipes since then. Most of them have long since been forgotten (like that dreaded denim jumper that I felt obligated to wear as a homeschool mom), but there’s this one recipe that has stood the test of time… Whether […]

Growing up, I seldom remember a meal that didn’t include bread as a complement. Usually it was some form of cornbread or biscuits – always homemade. Sometimes, if mama was exceptionally busy we’d just have “light bread” (translation: white sandwich bread). Although I didn’t carry that tradition over into my married life, some meals simply […]

I found this yummy recipe at allrecipes.com, made a few very minor adjustments and VOILA! had these scrumptious babies baking in no time flat. Well, they were a bit more time consuming than that because there are several steps, but trust me, they are so worth it. Pat & her kids were over and we put […]

Our family loves these chocolate chip muffins! They’re great as a breakfast treat, of course, but we’ve also taken them with us on trips as an easy snack that’s cheaper and healthier than picking up candy bars at gas stations along the way. I gotta warn you though…If you have an aversion to moist, chocolately, […]

“Zucchini bread” is something I NEVER thought I’d bake. The name of it just sounds gross  to me. It was actually my loathing of wasted food that prompted my first baking of this surprisingly delicious treat. Last year we left our garden untended while on vacation and came home to baseball bat-sized zucchini (well, not […]
